About Me
Passionate About Inspiring Others
My name is Felipe Moreno. I am a composer, orchestrator, and music educator specializing in film scoring. I completed the Master’s program in Screen Scoring at the University of Southern California (USC) in Los Angeles, and I currently teach film composition and music production to students from different parts of the world.

After listening to the soundtrack of one of my favorite films, a question came to mind that would eventually change my life: how is film music actually composed? How do you orchestrate in an idiomatic way? How do you convey emotion through an orchestra? That curiosity became the beginning of a deep search for answers that, for a long time, I could not find in my immediate environment.
I live in a beautiful country called Chile, but when I began this journey, film music was not very developed here. Most university programs and composition teachers were primarily focused on contemporary music. I learned a great deal in that context—about structure, harmony, and orchestration—but I never found someone who could explain why John Williams writes such memorable themes, how Disney achieves that orchestral sound that evokes magic, or how composers like Hans Zimmer create tension through ostinatos without falling into monotony.

Over time, I came to understand that every lesson contributed a piece to the puzzle. Without realizing it, year after year I was gradually building the musical language I had long wanted to understand.
My desire to learn this kind of music became so strong that I eventually decided to leave Chile and travel to Los Angeles to pursue the Master’s in Screen Scoring at the University of Southern California (USC). It was a transformative experience. For the first time, I found teachers who truly resonated with the music I wanted to write and from whom I could learn the language of film scoring directly.During that time, I also had the opportunity to build professional relationships that continue to this day. I have worked on several international short films—one of them alongside Stuart Thomas, an additional composer for Lorne Balfe—and I had the opportunity to orchestrate for the Alegría concert with MünchenMusik in Germany. These experiences have allowed me to develop a career as a composer and orchestrator while continuing to live and work from Chile.
Over time, Felipe Music Education was born, a project that grew out of the desire to teach what took me so many years to understand. Years and projects later, I had a beautiful realization: while teaching, I began to notice that my students were asking me the very same questions I once asked myself.
And the beauty of that wasn’t that I had all the answers—because I don’t—but that somehow I realized that God had been turning me into the teacher my younger self had always been looking for. That realization gave me a deep calling to share what I have learned throughout this journey.
That is why Felipe Music Education exists: to help composers find clarity in their music and provide a path toward developing a stronger voice within the world of film scoring.
Over time, I have developed a deep love for teaching and for guiding others through their creative process. I believe that musical education is not only about learning techniques, but also about developing resilience, discipline, and artistic vision. My journey as a composer has taught me that music and life are deeply connected.
Finally, I thank God for every stage of this journey. Looking back, I see a path filled with learning, challenges, and opportunities. My hope is to continue helping people to take their music to the next level by sharing everything I have learned through the years.
